And the Red Dot Award Goes to… PrintCube

di support has received the Red Dot Award 2018 for their PrintCube. Ralph Naruhn, CEO of di support GmbH, stated “We are extremely proud to receive this renowned, international distinction. I am not aware of a comparable product that has ever won this award. While developing the PrintCube, we sought to disregard previous printing solutions and move away from what had been done up until now. For that reason, we’re especially delighted that this courage is being rewarded.”

The PrintCube represents a new era of instant printing and calls upon the camera of today – the smartphone. Since it was clear that smartphones would become the new people’scamera, di support, the imaging software specialist from Eschborn, Germany, devoted themselves to developing an innovative, instant printing system for commercial purposes. Printing pictures should be just as easy as sharing photos with your smartphone. With the PrintCube you can design photo-products on your smartphone from practically anywhere in the world, which can immediately be printed in stores. Its unique design allows for maximum user-friendliness of innovative functions. The elegant, compact device has no buttons whatsoever and looks like a smartphone amongst other printing stations.

The Red Dot Design Award is considered by many to be the Oscar of product design and is one of three of the most renowned design prizes in the world. Originally established in 1955, the Red Dot Award determines the best products of a certain year. In 2018, designers and manufacturers from 59 countries submitted more than 6,300 objects to the competition. True to the motto “in search of good design and innovation” a 40-person jury judged the products individually and in person. The evaluation is harsh and includes criteria such as: degree of innovation, functionality, quality, ergonomics and longevity, which creates a framework for the jurors to fill out their respective expertise.

With their PrintCube, di support has launched a new type of photo business. This was brought on not only by numerous technical innovations, but also by the cube’s modern and attractive design, which appeals to the current and constantly growing consumer base.

di support isn’t known to install their software developments on just any IT system. They are constantly designing their own hard- and software while simultaneously being heavily involved in the later stages of the engineering and prototyping of these systems.  Only a few meticulously selected partners task di support with the production of their software.

di support will accept the Red Dot Award on July 9th, 2018 at the Red Dot Gala hosted at the Aalto-Theater in Essen, Germany. Subsequently, the PrintCube will be able to be seen at multiple roadshows and events worldwide. Furthermore, the PrintCube plans to be exhibited at Red Dot museums throughout Asia and Europe.
