di support wins German Design Award again

Eschborn, 08.11.2016

di support is to be awarded the German Design Award 2017 for its G3 ID touch terminal. This will be the second time that the Eschborn-based company has won the prize, after receiving the award in 2015.

IT systems, vehicles, high-tech fitness machines, furniture – this year, for the 2017 design prize approximately 4,000 products were submitted to the German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung), Germany’s oldest and most prestigious design organisation with nearly 250 member companies. When deciding the awards, the 48 members of the jury were guided by criteria including “user experience, user-friendliness and target-oriented design”, explains Andrej Kupetz, Managing Director of the Council.

Ralph Naruhn, CEO of di support GmbH, expresses his feelings on winning the German Design Award for the second time: “We are delighted with this award. It is a huge compliment to our entire team – and especially to our Art Director, Gordon Schaub. We always aim to develop products that are fun to use thanks to their user-friendliness and aesthetics.”

The G3 ID touch terminal is part of the G6 terminal product range, which won the German Design Award in 2015. The G3 ID touch terminal is used to create and edit biometric passport and portrait images. Areas of application include, for example, well-known retail chains and drugstores. The system also allows the use of different hardware components with a uniform overall picture, as well as offering a pleasant and user-friendly feel. Due to security guidelines, a cable-based solution was deliberately chosen for the connection of printers, power supply and camera control. A special magnetic connector (similar to MagSafe) allows simple, safe and maintenance-free use in day-to-day business.

The prize-giving ceremony for the German Design Award 2017 will once again take place within the framework of Ambiente in Frankfurt am Main next year. The ceremony involves over 1,200 participants from the worlds of politics, business, design, and journalism, and is one of the most important design events of the year.
