After almost a year of close cooperation between di support, the BSI (Federal Office for Information Security) and other members of the work group, the test phase of electronic image transmission using De-Mail is now starting in Cologne and Göttingen.

If the project is successful, in future it will be possible for photographers to send digitally recorded photographs for the purpose of applying for a passport to the authority responsible for the applicant via De-Mail.

The pilot operation is planned for a period of three months.
